‘That’s bad business. How long do you think I’d stay in operation if every time I pulled a job, it cost me money? If he’d just pay me what he’s spending to make me stop robbin’ him, I’d stop robbin’ him.’
Butch Cassidy in ‘Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid’ - this line cracked me up because now 40+ years later it’s a great echo of the crap media companies are pulling today desperately trying to keep old business models alive. Undoubtedly spending more than they’ve ever lost trying to stop people ‘robbing’ them. If they just took that $ and put it into creating a product that was desirable and easy to obtain at a reasonable price they eliminate the problem.

Matt Gurney: If RIM accepts it isn’t cool, it can still thrive
I always had a soft spot for RIM, and was an early non-corporate adopter. My first Berry was great. I could type emails easily, browse the web, play music – a vast improvement over my accidentally drowned Razor

This grid represents the extremes of people’s gravitational pulls. Few people practice at the edges (though there are some).

So, RIMs got a new CEO. Here he is.

I got about two minutes in before I zoned out. 6 before I gave up. BORING. Not convinced a ‘steady hand’ is what that company needed right now - they needed a little more vision and excitement IMHO, someone who’d upend the tables and give the company a shaking to its core.
